Aims

To develop a positive attitude towards learning mathematics and appreciate the importance, power and beauty of the subject.

To provide the best possible teaching that encourages and supports all pupils to embrace challenge and reach their highest potential.

Courses

S1-S3

During S1-S3 pupils will follow a course built on the CFE outcomes. Most will be working at levels 1 to 3 but some will experience work at level 4 and beyond.

S4

Depending upon their progress during S3 pupils will follow on of the following.

National 4

3 unit assessments

  • Numeracy
  • Relationships
  • Expressions and Formulae

Also an added value assessment needed to be awarded an overall National 4 pass.

National 5

3 unit assessments

  • Expressions and formulae
  • Relationships
  • Applications

Also the final exam has to be passed in order to gain a qualification at National 5

S5-6

Higher

This is a challenging and rewarding course which introduces the pupils to the amazing world of Calculus for the first time. Pupils will take their algebra skills to an advanced level and will begin to see the importance of mathematics to the world around us.

Pupils will be introduced to exciting topics like

  • Geometry
  • Algebra
  • Pythagoras
  • Trigonometry
